Who we are
Business Brother is a marketing agency based in Newcastle, NSW. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" refer to Business Brother. You can reach us at hi@businessbrother.co.
What we collect
We only collect information you give us directly, or that is generated when you use our website.
Information you give us
When you fill out any form on this site — enquiry, portfolio request, website brief, branding brief — we collect the details you provide. Typically this includes your name, business name, email address, phone number, how you heard about us, and any details you share about your project.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the site, our analytics tools collect standard technical information: your device type, browser, approximate location (city or region level), pages you visited, how you arrived on the site, and how long you stayed. This is used to understand what is working and improve the site over time.
How we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and deliver the work you have engaged us for.
- To send you occasional insights, updates, or offers, but only if you have ticked the marketing opt-in box on one of our forms.
- To understand how the website is used and to improve it.
- To meet any legal, tax, or record-keeping obligations.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information. We share it only with the service providers we use to run the business, and only to the extent needed. These include:
- Netlify — hosts this website and stores form submissions.
- Google Analytics — provides anonymised website usage statistics.
- Google Maps Platform — powers the Google reviews shown on the homepage.
- Google Workspace — hosts our email and shared documents.
- An email marketing platform, if and when you have opted in and we send you updates.
- Payment and accounting providers, for invoicing and tax records.
Some of these providers store data outside Australia. Where they do, we rely on their contractual and technical safeguards to protect your information.
Cookies and tracking
We use a small number of cookies to help the site work and to measure usage through Google Analytics. You can disable cookies in your browser settings. If you do, the site will still work but some things may look or behave a little differently.
Marketing emails
We only email you marketing content if you have explicitly opted in by ticking the box on one of our forms. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and honouring it is instant. You can also email us at any time to be removed from our list.
How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as we need it to serve you or to meet legal obligations. Client project files and communications are typically kept for seven years for tax and warranty reasons, after which they are securely deleted. Marketing list contacts are kept until you unsubscribe.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to:
- See what information we hold about you.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Delete your information, subject to legal record-keeping requirements.
- Unsubscribe from marketing communications.
To make any of these requests, email us at hi@businessbrother.co and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe, usually within seven days.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access. That said, no system connected to the internet is one hundred percent secure. If you ever suspect a problem, please tell us.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, the "Last updated" date at the top of the page will change. Substantial changes will be communicated where required.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we have handled your information, please contact us first and we will do our best to sort it out. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
